Can online ads drive store visits in Kuwait?

Yes. Online ads drive store visits in Kuwait when they give a nearby shopper a reason to come now and a one-tap way to act on it: directions, a call or a WhatsApp message. The weak point is measurement, not delivery. As of September 2026, Google's automatic store visit reporting does not cover Kuwait, so a Kuwait shop or restaurant has to count visits itself, using the methods set out later in this guide.

Most purchases that end at a till start on a phone. A 2026 regional shopping survey found that most product discovery now happens online, even when the purchase itself is made in a store. In Kuwait that journey often runs through Instagram, Google Maps and WhatsApp before anyone drives to the mall, so your ads are competing for the moment someone decides which branch to visit this evening.

So the ad's job is to remove the reason not to come. A shopper in Jahra will drive to a mall in another governorate if they know the size is in stock, the dish is on tonight's menu, or the branch stays open late. Ads that show stock, price, opening hours and which entrance or floor the shop is on do more work than ads that just say visit us, because they answer the questions people would otherwise send by message.

Three actions are the closest thing to a visit that you can see directly: a tap for directions, a call, and a WhatsApp chat that ends in a reservation or a question about stock. None of them is a visit, but all of them are recorded, and a store that tracks these three by branch and by campaign already knows more than one that only watches reach and likes. Everything in the rest of this guide builds on them.

Which Google ads drive store visits in Kuwait as of September 2026?

Performance Max for store goals. This campaign type promotes physical locations across Google Maps, Waze, Search, YouTube, the Display Network, Business Profiles and Gmail. You define your stores by linking your Google Business Profile or choosing affiliate locations. Google lists three kinds of goal: store visits, store sales, and local actions such as call and direction clicks. Its help centre states that store visit tracking is not required to launch one of these campaigns.

That last point matters, because Kuwait is not on Google's list of countries where store visit measurement is available as of September 2026, while the UAE is. Store visit conversions are Google's modelled estimates, built from anonymous aggregated data, of store visits that followed an ad, and Kuwait accounts cannot get them. A Kuwait campaign for store goals therefore optimises for local actions, which makes the quality of your directions and call data the whole game.

Local inventory ads. Merchant Center lists Kuwait among the regions where local inventory ads run, although Kuwait is not on its list for free local listings. These ads show products in stock at a nearby store, can appear on Google Maps, and can be switched on inside Shopping or Performance Max campaigns. They suit fashion, electronics and home stores whose stock data is reliable enough to trust, which is harder than it sounds across several mall branches.

Location assets. These attach your address, a map, the distance and a call button to ads on Search, the Display Network and YouTube, and local actions tracking depends on them. Each branch needs a verified Business Profile with accurate hours, which our Google Business Profile guide walks through. For a mall unit, check that the pin sits on the right building and the address names the mall, because a wrong pin sends people to the wrong car park.

Which Meta ads drive store visits now that the store traffic objective is gone?

Meta retired its store traffic objective when it cut Ads Manager's eleven objectives down to six. Its help centre now says in-store visits and sales are served through the Awareness objective, the Sales objective and store location features. Store location features, where you have them, let an Awareness ad target people near your stores, show local details such as the address and opening hours, and use Call now or Get directions buttons.

The catch is access. Store location features need a store pages structure on Facebook, work only with the Awareness objective, and deliver for daily unique reach. Meta's help notes that store pages are only available to managed clients and that the feature may not be available to you. Many Kuwait shops and restaurants will not see it at all, which is fine, because the simpler setups described below do most of the same job.

Omnichannel campaigns are the other route. Using the Sales objective with the website and in-store conversion location, Meta optimises for purchases in both places, but only if you send quality offline purchase events through the Conversions API and keep strong event match quality on your website events. That suits a retailer with a website and a till system that records customers' phone numbers. A restaurant without online orders has little use for it.

For everyone else, the working setup is an ad that names the branch and sends people to WhatsApp or directions. Target Kuwait broadly and let the creative do the local work, as the guide to targeting Kuwait areas explains, because a tight radius around one mall starves delivery in a country this compact. A Reel that shows the Salmiya branch, its entrance and tonight's offer sorts the audience for you.

How do calls, directions and WhatsApp turn ads into footfall?

Google Ads counts these as local actions conversions: taps on Directions or Start navigation, clicks to call, website clicks, and for some businesses order clicks and menu views, whether they happen in the ad or later on your Business Profile. The default click-through window is 30 days. You can bid on directions in Performance Max, Search and Shopping campaigns, while bidding on calls is limited to Performance Max campaigns.

Your Business Profile's performance report shows direction requests, calls, website clicks, bookings and, for restaurants, menu views, and Google says it combines actions from organic results and Google Ads. So a rise during a campaign is a signal, not proof: compare it with the same weeks before the campaign and with branches you did not advertise. Google counts unique direction requests and filters out repeated taps, cancellations and spam, which keeps that metric fairly clean.

WhatsApp is where a Kuwait customer usually checks before making the trip. Before driving to a mall, people ask whether the size is available, whether a table is free at nine, or whether the branch has the colour shown in the ad. Give each campaign its own WhatsApp link with a pre-filled opening line that includes a short code, such as SAL-EID, which our WhatsApp link generator builds in a minute.

Then make the chat do the measuring. Staff reply quickly, offer to hold the item or table under the customer's name, and tag the chat with the campaign code. When the customer arrives, the cashier matches the name or phone number to the hold and marks it collected. That list of phone numbers, codes and purchase values is your offline conversion record, and it is the file the next section uploads to Google and Meta.

How do you measure footfall from ads honestly?

Upload offline sales. Google still supports offline conversion imports but recommends enhanced conversions for leads, which matches hashed first-party data such as email addresses or phone numbers, plus the Google click ID (GCLID) where you have it, and can be set up through Data Manager. From 15 June 2026, uploads through the Google Ads API moved to the Data Manager API. On Meta, the old Offline Conversions API was discontinued in May 2025.

Meta now takes store sales into a dataset, either through the Conversions API with the action source set to physical store, within 62 days of the sale, or through a partner integration or a manual CSV upload in Events Manager. Meta advises precise timestamps, real values, a unique order ID and daily uploads. Uploaded rows cannot be deleted, so check the file first, and upload only customer data that your privacy notice covers.

Compare matched weeks and hold out a branch. Codes and uploads only capture the customers who used them, so also compare branch sales with matched weeks and with a branch you did not advertise. As an illustration, a Salmiya branch sold KD 18,000 in the four weeks before a campaign and KD 20,400 during it, on KD 900 of spend, while an unadvertised Jahra branch went from KD 15,000 to KD 15,600.

Jahra grew four percent without ads, so Salmiya would probably have reached about KD 18,720 anyway. The campaign's likely contribution is KD 1,680 of sales, which at a 40 percent gross margin is KD 672 of profit against KD 900 of spend, a loss on first visits unless those customers return. People cross governorates freely, which blurs such splits, and Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each year, so match weeks by season, not date.

Frequently asked questions

Does Google report store visits for businesses in Kuwait?+

Not as of September 2026. Google Ads Help lists the countries where store visit measurement is available, and Kuwait is not among them, although the UAE is. A Kuwait shop or restaurant can still run Performance Max for store goals, because Google says store visit tracking is not required to launch it; the campaign optimises for local actions such as direction and call clicks instead. Count real visits yourself with WhatsApp codes, offline sales uploads and matched-week comparisons.

What replaced Meta's store traffic objective?+

Meta retired the store traffic objective when it simplified Ads Manager from eleven objectives to six. Its help centre says in-store goals are now handled through the Awareness objective with store location features, or through the Sales objective with the website and in-store conversion location for omnichannel campaigns. Store location features need a store pages structure and may not be available to every advertiser, and omnichannel campaigns need quality offline purchase events sent through the Conversions API.

How can a Kuwait restaurant tell whether ads brought diners in?+

Use several imperfect signals together. Give each campaign its own WhatsApp link with a code in the pre-filled message, and tag the reservations that arrive through it. Track direction and call clicks in Google Ads and on the Business Profile. Upload bookings or bills with phone numbers to Meta and Google as offline conversions. Then compare covers during the campaign with matched weeks and with a branch you did not advertise, adjusting for the timing of Ramadan and Eid.
