Three channels, three moments
Picture one buyer in Doha: a family that has just arrived and needs a villa. On Instagram they scroll past a developer's reel of a compound in Al Waab and remember the name. A week later they ask ChatGPT what a family budget gets in Al Waab versus Lusail and see a sponsored placement below the answer. Then they type the developer's name into Google and click the ad at the top. Same buyer, three moments, three channels.
That sequence is why ChatGPT-versus-Google-versus-Meta is the wrong frame. They are not competing for the same click. Meta creates and reminds. ChatGPT ads sit inside the deliberation. Google catches the decision. A Qatar business that drops one to fund another usually just loses the moment that channel owned. The useful question is how much of each, and that is a measurement question, answered in tracked enquiries.
Intent: scrolling, asking, searching
Meta intent is low by design. Nobody opens Instagram to buy a villa; the reach is what you pay for, and in Qatar's small market that reach is quickly saturated, so frequency and creative fatigue arrive early. Google intent is high and explicit: the person typed international school Doha fees and wants a result. Everything about the ad is keyed to those words.
ChatGPT intent sits between the two and is shaped differently. The person is asking a question in their own words, often long and messy, and the placement is matched to the topic of that conversation rather than a keyword. It is earlier than the Google search and far more specific than a Meta impression. For the considered purchases that dominate Qatar, property, schools, hospitality, luxury, that middle moment is where most of the persuasion actually happens.
Creative: reel, headline, sentence
Meta in Qatar is a visual game: short video, modest creative, Arabic and English variants, fast refresh because the audience is small. Google is a headline-and-description game keyed to keywords, with extensions and a landing page that matches the query. Both are well understood, and we run both; see Meta ads and Google Ads for how we approach each in the Gulf.
ChatGPT ads are, for now, text-first placements with a link, sitting under an answer, clearly labelled Sponsored. There is no reel to hide behind. The copy has to read like a natural continuation of the conversation, in the language the question was asked in, and point at a page that keeps answering. That rewards businesses with a clear offer and punishes vague brand messaging. Formats are evolving, but the discipline of one plain sentence that fits the question is the skill that transfers.
Measurement: same stack, different signals
Measurement is where the three channels finally meet. Meta has its pixel and Conversions API; Google has its tags and offline conversion imports; OpenAI provides a conversion pixel for advertisers, which we pair with a server-side event for deduplication. All three feed GA4, and all three need WhatsApp and call tagging, because in Qatar the high-value enquiry rarely ends on a form. Aahfil already runs the OpenAI pixel on its own site.
With the stack in place, the comparison becomes honest: cost per tracked enquiry per channel, in QAR, over the same period. Without it, ChatGPT ads will either look like magic or like waste depending on who is telling the story. The point is not to crown a winner but to see which moment each channel is winning for you, then fund accordingly. How to track ChatGPT ads conversions in Qatar has the setup.
Complement, not replace: how we split a Qatar budget
Our usual advice for a Doha business already on Google and Meta is to leave those budgets alone and carve out a separate test for ChatGPT ads, sized to the value of a single customer rather than to a share of spend. Run it for a full month with the same tracking as the other two channels, then compare. Rollout is staged by country and by plan, and GCC availability changes, so we confirm Qatar's status on WhatsApp before any money moves.
Send us your website, what you sell and what you currently spend on Google and Meta. We check whether ChatGPT ads are available for Qatar yet, tell you where they would sit in your funnel, and if it is worth it, propose a test budget in QAR and the stop-or-scale line. If your Google or Meta setup is the weaker link, we say that first.
