Funnel position: where each one meets the buyer
Meta, Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat meet a Dubai buyer before they know they want something. A reel about a new Palm Jumeirah restaurant, a Ramadan collection, a launch at Dubai Hills: the feed creates the wish. Google meets them at the end, when they type 'best moving company Dubai Marina' and want a phone number in the next minute. Those two ends of the funnel are well served in the UAE and the auctions are priced accordingly, because every brand in the region knows it.
ChatGPT ads sit in the middle, in the research phase that used to happen across ten browser tabs and now happens in one conversation. 'Compare JVC and Dubai Sports City for a family.' 'Which company-setup package makes sense for an e-commerce business?' The person is past curiosity and before the final search. That phase was hard to reach with paid media until now, which is why the placement is worth testing and why it will not replace either end. The launch guide covers how a test starts.
Intent: a search, a scroll, a conversation
Google intent is sharp and short. A keyword, a click, a call. It is the best intent in advertising and the UAE pays for it, especially in real estate, clinics and legal services where a single Dubai lead can be worth a great deal. Meta intent is soft and wide; you buy attention and hope the creative converts it, and in a visual market like the UAE that works, which is why click-to-WhatsApp ads do so well across the Gulf. Both are proven. Neither is going anywhere.
ChatGPT intent is long and specific. The person has explained their situation, budget, family and timeline to the model, and the Sponsored placement appears under the answer to that. Advertisers never see the conversation, so you do not get that context, but you get to appear next to it. That is closer to Google than Meta, with one difference: the person is comparing, not deciding. Your landing page has to help them compare, in their language, and your WhatsApp reply has to be fast enough to catch them before they open the next tab.
Creative: video and image vs text and a link
Meta and TikTok are won on video. In the UAE that means production: a villa walkthrough, a plated dish, an unboxing, an Emirati creator in the majlis. Google search ads are a headline and two lines, and the skill is in keyword discipline and landing pages. ChatGPT ads, as they stand today, are text-first sponsored placements with a link, and formats are evolving; we do not describe image or video units as fact because OpenAI has not made them one.
That makes the craft closer to search than social, with a twist. On Google the person typed three words; under a ChatGPT answer they have just read a considered paragraph, so the placement has to sound like it belongs after that paragraph, not shout over it. Plain claims, real specifics, the location, the price in AED where it helps, and one next step. Arabic and English written natively, never translated. It is copywriting in the old sense, and it is the whole ad, which is why it is cheap to test and unforgiving to get wrong.
Measurement: same pixel discipline, different signals
Google gives you the keyword. Meta gives you the audience and the creative. ChatGPT ads give you the topic and the click, and OpenAI provides a conversion pixel for advertisers so that what happens after the click can be counted. Aahfil already runs that pixel on aahfil.com alongside a server-side conversions event, the same discipline we apply to Meta's conversions API and Google's enhanced conversions. Without server-side deduplication, a single Dubai lead that fires on two channels gets counted twice and every channel looks better than it is.
The comparison that matters is one number, measured the same way on all three: cost per tracked conversion, where a conversion is a WhatsApp lead that became a quote, a booked viewing, or a paid order in AED. Anything else is platform-flattering. How we build that measurement is in tracking ChatGPT ads conversions in the UAE. Expect ChatGPT ads to show up as an assist in some paths, with the final click on Google or direct, which is another reason to read GA4 alongside the platform reports rather than instead of them.
How to split the budget in the UAE
Keep Google search on the terms that already pay. Keep Meta on the creative that already books. Carve a test slice for ChatGPT ads from whichever of the two is weakest on cost per tracked conversion, run it against the same landing pages and the same WhatsApp flow, and give it a stop-loss and a review date. If it beats the channel it was carved from, it earns more; if it does not, the slice goes back. The cost page explains why there is no price list to plan around.
One more thing the three have in common: none of them buys a place inside ChatGPT's answer. The Sponsored placement is separate and labelled; being named in the answer is earned through SEO and AI-search work. Rollout is staged by country and by plan, and GCC availability changes, so whether your UAE business can buy today, join a waitlist, or should prepare and wait is a WhatsApp question; we check the current status before anything is spent. Send us your website, what you sell, and your current Google and Meta results; we tell you where a ChatGPT test fits.
