How much does a marketing agency cost for a coffee shop in Kuwait?

In Kuwait most coffee shops pay 150–350 KD a month for content only, 350–700 KD for content plus ad management, and 700–1,500 KD for a full retainer with monthly shoots. Ad spend sits on top of the fee, never inside it. Below roughly 4,000 KD monthly revenue, skip the agency.

Three price bands, and what each one actually buys

Content only runs 150–350 KD a month. That buys one shoot day at the branch, or you send phone footage and they edit it, and you get roughly 12 to 20 posts and reels, captions written in both Arabic and English, story templates, and a posting calendar. No ad campaigns, no sales reporting. This band suits a cafe in Salmiya or Hawally that already has steady footfall and just needs the feed to stop looking dead. If you expect it to move the till on its own, you will be disappointed. It buys presentation, not orders.

Content plus ad management runs 350–700 KD a month for a single branch. On top of the content you get Snapchat and Meta campaigns built and run, audiences drawn 3 to 8 kilometres around your door, two or three offers tested against each other, and a weekly number you can actually read. Ask one question before signing: is the fee flat, or a percentage of ad spend? Fifteen to twenty percent of spend is common in Kuwait and it quietly punishes small budgets. Under 1,000 KD of monthly spend, insist on a flat fee.

A full retainer is 700–1,500 KD a month, and 1,500–3,000 KD once you have three or more branches. That covers two shoot days with a videographer and food styling, all paid channels, your Google Business Profile and Maps pin, WhatsApp broadcasts to your regulars, review handling, and campaign planning around Ramadan, Eid and Hala February. Expect a one-time setup fee of 150–400 KD and a three-month minimum. Anything shorter than three months is not a strategy, it is a trial, and both sides know it.

Ad spend is not part of the fee, and no honest agency pretends it is

The fee pays the agency. The ad budget goes to Snapchat, Meta and Google and never touches the agency's account. For one branch, plan 250–600 KD a month of actual spend. So a realistic all-in for a single Salmiya cafe is roughly 600 KD to 1,300 KD a month, fee plus spend. Be suspicious of any 300 KD package that says ads included. Split that number and you have around 150 KD of work and 150 KD of spend, which is too little of both to move anything. You end up paying to learn nothing.

Budget by month, not as a flat twelve. Ramadan pushes CPMs up sharply and every cafe in Kuwait is bidding at the same hours, so the same 300 KD buys noticeably less reach in the last ten days. Hala February and the winter chalet season are worth loading up on. July and August the country empties out, so cut spend rather than burn it on people sitting in Tbilisi. And insist the ad account sits in your own Business Manager under your CR, not the agency's. When you switch agencies, and one day you will, you take your pixel and your audiences with you.

One more line to check before you sign anything: where does the money come back? Delivery apps take roughly 25 to 30 percent of every order, so paying an agency to push more Talabat volume can leave you busier and no richer. If you roast or bag your own beans, the same content is worth far more pointed at your own store on Shopify with KNET and Tabby at checkout, where a 6 KD bag stays a 6 KD bag. Ask the agency to price that as part of the retainer, not as a separate project.

Below this line, do not hire an agency at all, and we are an agency

Here is the honest threshold. If your coffee shop is turning over less than about 4,000 KD a month, or you cannot commit roughly 500 KD a month combined for six straight months, do not hire anybody. A 400 KD retainer on 3,000 KD of revenue is more than thirteen percent of turnover going to marketing while rent in Salmiya, staff visas, green coffee prices and delivery commission are already eating your margin. Two months in you will cancel, blame the agency, and be poorer. Fix the drink, the signage and your Google Maps pin first. Those cost almost nothing and they are what actually leaks.

Under that line, the cheap version works better anyway. Book a freelance shooter for 40–80 KD a half day, four hours, and walk away with 20 to 30 photos and clips that cover you for six weeks. Post them yourself, in your own voice, because nobody writes a Kuwaiti cafe caption better than the owner. Put 100–150 KD a month into a Snapchat or Instagram radius campaign around the branch and read the numbers yourself. Revisit the agency question when you clear 6,000 KD a month, or the day you sign a second branch, whichever comes first.

Frequently asked questions

What is a normal monthly retainer in Kuwait for one branch?+

For a single branch, 350–700 KD a month is the normal retainer when content and paid ads are both managed. Add monthly shoots, Google Maps, WhatsApp and reporting and it moves to 700–1,500 KD. Most agencies also charge a one-time setup fee of 150–400 KD and ask for a three-month minimum.

How much does social media management cost in Kuwait without ads?+

Content and posting on its own is 150–350 KD a month in Kuwait, which typically covers 12 to 20 posts and reels, bilingual captions and one shoot day. Priced per post it lands around 8–15 KD a piece. At that level nobody is managing your Snapchat or Meta budget, so do not judge it on sales.

Should the agency take a percentage of my ad spend?+

Not at small budgets. Below 1,000 KD of monthly ad spend, insist on a flat fee, because 15 to 20 percent of a 300 KD budget is 45–60 KD, which buys nobody's real attention. Percentage pricing only starts to make sense above roughly 1,500 KD a month of spend, and even then cap it.
