What kind of ad creative works for coffee shops in Kuwait?

Show the drink in the first second — the pour, the first sip, the room full at 8pm — with a price or an offer on screen and one named branch. Shoot it vertical on a phone, not in a studio. Keep four to six creatives live and swap them every three to four weeks.

The first second belongs to the drink, not your logo

Put the drink on screen in the first second. Not your logo, not a slow pan across the ceiling, not a title card with the shop name. The frame that stops a thumb in Kuwait is steam coming off a pour, milk hitting espresso, ice cracking into a Spanish latte, or a hand lifting the cup for the first sip. We see it on every account we run: creatives that open on the product hold their three-second view rate at roughly double the ones that open on branding. You have about one second before the thumb moves. Spend it on the thing the customer actually wants.

After the hook, show the room at its best hour. For most Kuwait cafes that is between 7 and 9 in the evening, or Friday morning if you sit in a residential block in Salmiya or Jabriya. Film the corner that is genuinely full, not the empty seating at 2pm. Then put something specific on screen: a price, an offer, a named branch. A line like Spanish latte 1.750 KD, or buy one get one at the Salmiya branch until Thursday, beats best coffee in Kuwait every single time, because one is a reason to move and the other is a claim.

End with one instruction, not three. Send them to a location pin, or tell them to show the ad at the counter, or point them to the menu. Coffee is a fast decision; nobody researches a latte. The ads that fail here are the ones trying to communicate the brand story, the sourcing, the founder, the roast profile. All of that belongs on your grid, not in a paid placement. The ad is a poster on a fast street. Drink, price, place, done. If you have a second message, that is a second creative, not a longer video.

Phone footage beats the studio shoot almost every time

Shoot vertical, on a phone, and let whoever works your bar hold it. A 900 KD production day gives you a polished horizontal film that gets cropped in Reels, reads as an ad from three metres away, and stops earning after two weeks. Your barista with an iPhone gives you eleven usable clips in one afternoon for the cost of nothing. In Kuwait feeds — Instagram Reels, TikTok, Snapchat — native footage consistently costs less per view and per visit than the polished cut, because it does not announce itself as advertising. People scroll past ads. They watch a pour finish.

That is not permission to be sloppy. Wipe the counter, clean the glass, get the light right — window daylight beats your ceiling spots — and hold the camera steady for four seconds instead of two. Add Arabic captions, because most of Kuwait watches with the sound off. Keep the clip between eight and fifteen seconds. And if you sell beans, capsules or a monthly subscription, film the bag too and send that traffic to your own store on Shopify instead of a delivery-app listing, so the margin stays yours and the customer's number stays in your hands.

Keep four to six creatives live and replace them on a schedule

Four to six creatives live at once is the right number for a single-branch cafe. Fewer than four and you cannot tell what the audience responds to. More than six and your budget — usually 150 to 400 KD a month here — spreads too thin for anything to gather data. Give each creative 40 to 60 KD or about five days, whichever comes first. Then keep the one or two that beat the rest on cost per visit or cost per message, and cut the others without arguing about which one you liked. It is normal for one creative out of six to carry the whole account.

Refresh every three to four weeks. Kuwait is small; the same few hundred thousand people see your ad again and again, and once frequency passes four or five in a month the results drop and the comments turn. Build the habit of filming one new clip a week so you always have a bench ready. Rotate around the calendar too: Ramadan nights need a different opener than an August afternoon when half your regulars are in London or Georgia, and Hala February crowds want the busy-room shot, not the quiet one.

Frequently asked questions

UGC or a studio shoot — what actually performs better in Kuwait?+

Phone-shot UGC wins on cost in most months, usually landing 20 to 40 percent cheaper per visit than a studio cut. Book one studio day a year, around 700 to 1,200 KD, for menu photography and a hero film, and shoot everything else on a phone. If you only have budget for one, keep the phone.

What is the best performing ad format for a coffee shop in Kuwait?+

Vertical video, 8 to 15 seconds, product on screen inside the first second, Arabic captions burned in, one call to action. Static images only earn their place when they carry a price or an offer — a photo of a pretty cup with no number attached is the weakest thing you can run. Aim for at least 25 percent of viewers still watching at three seconds.

Give me video ad ideas for a coffee shop that I can film this week.+

Five that work: the pour in close-up, the first sip, the room at 8pm on a Thursday, the new item with its price on screen, and one staff member making your top seller in real time. Film five clips a week, one idea per clip, and never combine two ideas in one video. That gives you a bench of 20 a month and you will only ever need six live.
