Search demand for cafés in Kuwait is thinner than the pitch deck says
Open Keyword Planner and look at Kuwait yourself. Terms like coffee near me, best coffee Kuwait, or cafe Salmiya together move a few thousand searches a month across the entire country, and most of those people are already standing outside a door. Compare that to Instagram and Snapchat, where one reel from a Kuwaiti food account moves more feet in a weekend than a month of search clicks does. That is why we rarely put the first 100 KD of a café budget into Google. Discovery here happens on a phone screen, not in a search bar.
There is one thing owners miss: your Google Business Profile is free, and it is where the search demand that does exist ends up. Before you pay Google a single fils, get the profile right. Correct hours, the pin dropped on the actual door, photos from this year rather than 2021. Ads that push people to a dead profile just buy them a bad first impression with your money. Once it is clean, paid search becomes a top-up on something already working instead of a patch over something broken. We treat that as step zero, not an optional extra.
Here are the numbers we actually see in Kuwait accounts. Your own name costs 0.030 to 0.080 KD a click because nobody else bids on it. Generic terms like coffee near me run 0.080 to 0.200 KD. Beans, roastery and subscription terms sit between 0.100 and 0.250 KD. Catering, corporate and coffee cart terms are the expensive ones at 0.250 to 0.700 KD a click, and they are still the best value on the list, because a single won order is worth 200 KD or more.

Run these three campaigns and skip the rest
Campaign one is brand defence. Put 15 to 30 KD a month on exact match for your own name, in English and Arabic, with the common misspellings. It sounds like paying for traffic you already own, and half the time it is. But in Kuwait the delivery apps bid on café names constantly, and when they win that click your customer orders through a channel that takes a cut of the ticket. Thirty dinar a month to keep your own name above them is the cheapest insurance in the account. Check the search terms report monthly and cut anything that is not you.
Campaign two is catering and corporate. Kuwaiti offices, clinics and event planners genuinely search for coffee catering Kuwait, barista for event, and coffee cart rental, and they search with intent to book. Budget 80 to 200 KD a month and send the clicks to a page with a WhatsApp button and a starting price, not to your homepage. One company ordering twice a week is worth more than 40 walk-ins. This is the one campaign where we have seen cafés pull 3 to 6 qualified enquiries a month from under 150 KD, and where the owner keeps paying because he can count the orders.
Campaign three only makes sense if you sell beans. If you roast, or even just bag a house blend, demand for specialty coffee beans Kuwait and V60 gear is real and it converts. But it only converts into a shop that can take the money. Send that traffic to your own Shopify store with KNET checkout instead of an Instagram DM, or you will pay for the click and lose the sale at the exact moment the customer has to ask what shipping to Jahra costs. Budget 60 to 150 KD and watch cost per order, not clicks.
Skip these, whatever the agency deck says
Skip the Display Network. It is the cheapest inventory in the account and it will eat 60 percent of your budget showing a latte photo inside random apps to people hunting for the close button. Skip Performance Max for a single-branch café; it needs conversion volume you do not have, and it will quietly spend your money on Display anyway. Skip broad match keywords until you have three months of search term data. And skip YouTube ads unless you already have a video that performs organically. Every one of these is easy for an agency to sell and hard for you to audit.
Give it 90 days and one number. Track calls, WhatsApp taps and direction requests, not impressions, and compare cost per enquiry against what the same money does on Snapchat and Instagram. If Google is not beating them by month three, move the budget and keep only the brand campaign alive. Plan around the calendar too: catering searches spike in Ramadan, around National Day and through Hala February, then go quiet in July and August when half of Kuwait travels. Pause the catering campaign for the summer instead of letting it drain 200 KD into an empty market.
