Should an online store in Kuwait run Google Ads?

Yes, if you have a clean product feed and people search for what you sell by name. Shopping and Performance Max are where the money goes, not text ads. Expect 150 to 400 KD a month, 20 to 60 fils per brand click, and thinner category volume than Dubai or Riyadh.

Your product feed decides this, not your budget

Before you argue about budget, open your product feed. Shopping and Performance Max, the two formats that actually make Google work for a store, both pull from a Merchant Center feed. If your titles read Product 12, if the feed price does not match the page price to the fils, or if stock status is stale, Google disapproves items, shows a wrong price, or suspends the account. On most Kuwait accounts we spend the first week fixing the feed, not writing ads. Titles carry the search terms: brand, product type, size, colour, in that order. GTINs on anything branded.

Two things break Kuwait feeds specifically. Merchant Center wants a visible return policy, a delivery time and a delivery cost on the site itself, not in a WhatsApp reply, and any product listed as price on request will fail review. Platform matters here. A Shopify store pushes a clean feed into Merchant Center through the free Google channel in about an hour, which is one honest reason we put most Kuwait catalogues on Shopify instead of a custom build. A hand-rolled site usually needs a developer and two weeks before the first ad can run.

Google defends the name you built, it rarely creates demand

The cheapest reliable money on Google is your own name. If your store has any following from Instagram or Snapchat, people type the brand into Google before they buy, and a brand click in Kuwait usually costs 20 to 60 fils. Resellers, marketplaces and one lazy competitor will bid on that name and take the order you paid Snapchat to create. A small brand campaign, 30 to 60 KD a month, closes the gap. It looks like paying for traffic you would get free. Partly true, and it is still the line that protects everything else you spend.

Then check whether the category exists in search at all. Kuwait is a market of roughly five million people, and a niche category can be a few hundred searches a month across Arabic and English combined. We have opened Keyword Planner on Kuwait accounts and found 200 to 900 monthly searches for an entire product line the owner believed was huge. That is not a failure of Google, it is a ceiling. If the total sits under about 300 searches a month, no budget and no agency turns search into your main channel, and anyone promising otherwise is selling a retainer.

Volume also moves with the calendar here. Gifting, dates, sweets and abaya searches climb through the two weeks before Ramadan and again before Eid. Hala February pulls in electronics and offer-style queries. July and August fall off a cliff because half your buyers are in Georgia, Turkey or London, and the ones still here are ordering delivery at midnight rather than researching purchases. Plan Google spend against that shape instead of a flat monthly figure, and move the extra budget into the four weeks where demand actually exists rather than spreading it evenly across a dead summer.

What it costs, and the catalogue that beats social on Google

Costs, plainly. Brand clicks 20 to 60 fils. Non-brand category search 150 to 500 fils depending on how many people are bidding. Crowded categories such as perfume and oud, phones, gold and supplements go past 900 fils on the good terms. Shopping and Performance Max usually clear cheaper, 80 to 250 fils, because you compete on price and image rather than one keyword. A serious test is 150 to 400 KD a month for at least six weeks, and Performance Max needs two to four weeks of learning before its numbers mean anything. Under 100 KD a month you collect noise, not data.

Google beats social when the buyer already knows the words for what you sell. Spare parts, printer ink, tyres, laptop chargers, branded supplements, specific model numbers, replacement filters, optical and medical items. Someone types those and wants them today, while social has to interrupt a stranger to sell the same thing. Flip it and social wins: a new local abaya label, a bakery, a candle brand, anything nobody searches for by name yet. If you cannot write down the exact query a customer would type, that catalogue is not a Google catalogue, and no bidding strategy fixes it.

Structure it simply. One Shopping or Performance Max campaign on the full feed with brand terms excluded so it does not eat traffic you already own. One small brand search campaign. Nothing else until those two have 30 conversions between them. Then judge results against KNET-confirmed orders in your own dashboard, not the conversion count Google reports, because Performance Max claims credit for buyers who saw one YouTube frame and came back through Instagram anyway. If Google's number sits more than about 20 percent above your real orders, your tracking is double counting and the decision you make from it is wrong.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Google Ads cost for an online store in Kuwait?+

Budget 150 to 400 KD a month for a real test, held for at least six weeks. Brand clicks run 20 to 60 fils, non-brand category search 150 to 500 fils, and crowded categories like perfume or phones pass 900 fils. Under 100 KD a month Performance Max never finishes learning, so you are paying for noise.

Are search ads worth it in Kuwait if my category has low volume?+

Check Keyword Planner first. If your whole category totals under about 300 searches a month in Arabic and English combined, search cannot be your main channel and no budget changes that. In that case run only the brand campaign at 30 to 60 KD a month plus Shopping on the full feed, and put the rest into Instagram and Snapchat.

Do I need Merchant Center, or can I just run normal search ads?+

You can run text ads without it, but for a store Shopping and Performance Max usually carry 60 to 80 percent of the return, and both require an approved Merchant Center feed. On Shopify that connection takes about an hour; on a custom build expect a developer and two weeks. Fix the feed before you fund the account.
