Search intent versus discovery
This single distinction resolves most platform arguments. Some products have existing demand — someone already knows they need it and is typing it into Google. Others have latent demand — nobody wakes up needing a ceramic vase, but plenty of people buy one after seeing it.
For the first group, Google search and Shopping are efficient because you are meeting a decision already made. For the second, Meta and TikTok are where the decision gets created. Spending heavily on the wrong one is the most common source of "ads don't work for us" in Kuwait e-commerce.
What each platform is actually good at here
Meta remains the workhorse for Kuwait e-commerce — the best catalogue integration, the strongest retargeting, and enough audience depth to scale. TikTok is the best top-of-funnel for visual, impulse-friendly, accessibly priced products, and it can produce results no other platform will. Snapchat holds unusual strength in Kuwait with a young, local audience.
Google is the one most stores under-invest in when they should be doing the opposite. If people are already searching your category in Kuwait, that traffic is cheaper and converts higher than anything social — and Google Ads costs in Kuwait are often lower than owners assume.
Start with one, prove it, then add
Splitting a small budget across four platforms guarantees that none of them gathers enough conversion data to optimise. Each platform needs a meaningful number of purchase events before its algorithm becomes useful, and a fragmented budget never reaches that on any of them.
Pick the one that matches your category, run it until you know your cost per purchase, then add a second channel with a separate budget rather than by splitting the first. This sequencing costs nothing and it is the difference between learning what works and funding four simultaneous experiments that all fail quietly.
