How does an online store in Kuwait get more Google reviews and handle bad ones?

Ask for the review two to three days after delivery, by WhatsApp, with a direct link and one photo request. Reply to every bad review in public within 24 hours and fix it in private. Never buy reviews — Google strips them in waves and Kuwaiti buyers spot them in seconds.

Ask two days after delivery, and ask for a photo

Send the ask two to three days after the box lands, not at the moment the courier marks it delivered. In Kuwait most orders are handed to a building watchman or someone else at home, so the buyer needs a day or two before they actually open it. Send it on WhatsApp from the same number that confirmed the order, in the language the customer wrote to you in, with one direct link and nothing else. Email gets ignored here. Avoid Thursday night and Friday morning, avoid the last ten days of Ramadan, and never send the ask twice.

Ask for the photo explicitly, because a plain “leave us a review” gets you a star and nothing usable. Say it in one line: how did the fit turn out, and a picture if you don't mind. Photo reviews sell far harder than text on a Kuwaiti store — an abaya on a real person, a perfume box, a car accessory on an actual dashboard tells the next buyer the product is real and the sizing is honest. Expect 8 to 15 percent of buyers to leave anything at all, and roughly a third of those to attach a photo. That is normal. Anyone promising 50 percent is selling you a fantasy.

Never pay cash for a review, and be careful with discounts. A 10 percent code on the next order sent to everyone who wrote something, whatever they wrote, is fine — you are thanking them for the time, not buying the opinion. A code sent only to people who gave five stars is buying reviews, and Google and every review app treat it exactly that way. Write the rule down so your team never blurs it. And if you sell on Instagram only, screenshots of WhatsApp praise are not reviews. They are advertising, and Kuwaiti buyers read them as advertising.

Show the three-star reviews too — they are what make the fives believable

Show every review you collect, including the threes. A page where 300 reviews are all five stars reads as fake to a Kuwaiti shopper faster than a page with 60 reviews averaging 4.6 and two honest complaints about slow delivery in summer. Product reviews belong on product pages, which means you need pages you actually own — one reason we push clients to run the storefront on Shopify instead of renting a shelf on a marketplace where the review and the customer both belong to someone else. Keep Google reviews for the brand and product reviews on the product; they answer two different questions.

Do not filter, reorder, or hide by rating. If the review app lets you approve each one before it publishes, use that only to strip abuse and personal phone numbers, and write the policy down. Never edit a customer's wording. Never translate an Arabic review into English and post it as their words — write your own reply in both languages instead. And do not build a wall of testimonials on the homepage. Three or four sitting next to the add-to-cart button, with the full list one tap away, does more for conversion than a carousel nobody scrolls.

Most online stores in Kuwait still qualify for a Google Business Profile even with no shop floor — a pickup point in Salmiya, a warehouse in Shuwaikh, or a service-area listing. That profile is where “reviews” means Google reviews, and it is what appears when someone searches your brand name before deciding to trust your checkout. Twenty to forty real reviews averaging 4.5 or better is enough to clear the doubt for most shoppers. Going from zero to twenty takes about two months of asking every single buyer once, which is slower than it sounds and cheaper than everything else.

Answer the late-order complaint in public, fix it in private

When someone posts “my order is 9 days late” in public, reply within a few hours, in the language they wrote in, and lead with the fact, not the apology template. Name where the order actually is, give a real date, and say what you are doing about it: you're right, it shipped Sunday and it is sitting in customs clearance, I moved it to express, you will have it Wednesday, and the shipping is refunded. Then continue in DM. The public reply is not really for that customer — it is for the next 200 people who read the thread before they buy.

Do not argue, do not quote your terms and conditions, and do not delete the comment. Deleting is the fastest way to turn one annoyed buyer into a Snapchat story that reaches thousands. If the complaint is genuinely false, reply calmly with the facts once and stop. Roughly one in ten angry customers edits or removes the review themselves after you fix the problem, but never ask for that in the same message where you solve it. Fix first, ask a week later, or don't ask at all. The fix is the marketing.

Buying reviews is the shortcut every store in Kuwait gets offered, usually 50 to 150 KD a batch. It is detectable. The accounts have no photo and no history, they review a restaurant in Jahra and a store in Salmiya the same afternoon, and they write in flat MSA no Kuwaiti actually uses. Google removes them in waves, and the sweep can take your genuine reviews and your ranking with it. The worse cost is internal: once the number on the page is fake, you stop learning from it, and the one honest signal you had about your own delivery times goes dark.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get more Google reviews in Kuwait?+

Ask every buyer once, two to three days after delivery, on WhatsApp with a direct link. Expect 8 to 15 percent to actually leave one. At 200 orders a month that is roughly 16 to 30 reviews, so most stores go from zero to a credible 20 to 40 within about two months without paying anybody.

Can I remove a bad review in Kuwait?+

Only if it breaks Google's rules: abuse, a competitor, the wrong business, or personal data. Report it and expect three to seven days for a decision, and expect most reports to fail. For a genuine complaint the real answer is a public reply within 24 hours and a private fix; about one in ten customers updates the review themselves afterwards.

What does reputation management cost for a store in Kuwait?+

For most online stores it should already sit inside your social or SEO retainer, not as a separate 400 KD line. The real cost is one person spending 20 to 30 minutes a day replying, plus about 5 to 30 KD a month for a review app on the store. If an agency quotes 500 KD a month to manage reputation and nothing in the plan fixes delivery, walk.
