a calendar, not a blast

How a Kuwait marketing team runs WhatsApp, one planned campaign at a time

For a marketing team, WhatsApp is a channel you plan like email and pay for like media: a calendar of campaigns, a library of approved Arabic and English templates, segments built from what people did, and reporting that ties chats back to ad spend. Most Kuwait teams need Gallabox's Essential plan for drip sequences, template analytics and Conversions API attribution.

What changes when a team owns WhatsApp

One person sending a broadcast when the shop is quiet isn't a marketing programme. Once a team owns the channel, it needs what email and paid social already have: a calendar, a brief for each send, an approval step, a budget, and a report that someone actually reads.

The mechanics each have their own page: broadcasts, drip sequences, Click-to-WhatsApp ads. This page is about the operating rhythm around them: who writes, who signs off, what the month costs, and how you tell whether it worked.

Roles matter more than they look. Gallabox's Basic plan has an owner role only. Essential adds member, admin and owner roles, and Advanced adds custom roles. Decide early who is allowed to send to the full list, because one wrong broadcast reaches everyone at once.

Build the calendar around Kuwait's year

Kuwait's marketing year has fixed peaks: Ramadan and the two Eids, National Day and Liberation Day at the end of February, the back-to-school weeks, and White Friday in November. Plan WhatsApp around them the way you plan media, with templates written and approved weeks ahead rather than on the day.

Ramadan changes timing more than content. People are on their phones late in the evening, and a message sent mid-morning may sit unread. Schedule sends for the hours your own data shows people reply, and think twice about the first day of Eid, when your message competes with every family group chat.

Gallabox has no Ramadan or holiday campaign feature, and you don't need one. What you need is a shared calendar, the templates approved, and the segments built before the season starts.

Templates in two languages, in the right category

Every campaign message that starts a conversation is a template approved by Meta, and the category you choose decides the price. From 1 October 2026 a Kuwait marketing template costs $0.0792 and a utility template $0.044, before the provider's markup. Today, under the Rest of Middle East card, they cost $0.0341 and $0.0091.

Write the Arabic and English versions as separate templates, each written for its reader, and send each contact the one that matches their language tag. A single message in both languages is long and reads badly on a phone. A promotion dressed up as a utility message is a false saving: since April 2025 Meta can reclassify it as marketing, and repeated policy problems lead to sending restrictions.

Template analytics, on Essential and above, show which templates get read and answered. Use them to retire the weak ones instead of approving a new variation every week.

Budgets, allowances and per-user caps

Plan the monthly WhatsApp budget like media: the contacts you'll reach, times the rate for the category, plus the provider's markup, which is 15% on Gallabox's rate card, plus the plan itself. Check the plan's broadcast allowance too: 10K contacts a month on Basic, 500K on Essential and 1M on Advanced.

WhatsApp also limits how many marketing messages each person receives from businesses, and it doesn't publish the number. When someone has had enough, your message fails with error 131049 and isn't delivered. Marketing messages sent while that customer's own 24-hour window is open don't count toward the limit. The practical answer is fewer, better-targeted sends and a gap between campaigns.

Your messaging limit, the number of people you can reach outside an open chat in 24 hours, starts at 250 and rises to 2,000, 10,000, 100,000 and then unlimited. It's set per business portfolio, so a launch to a large list needs the limit raised well before launch day.

Measure what the ads paid for

Click-to-WhatsApp ads are where WhatsApp and paid social meet. On Basic, Gallabox labels the chats that came from an ad. From Essential, the Meta Conversions API sends chat outcomes, such as a lead or a purchase, back to the ad account, so Meta can optimise toward people who buy rather than people who tap.

Chats that start from those ads are free of Meta message fees for 72 hours after your first reply, templates included. A team that qualifies and converts inside that window pays for the ad, not for the messages.

If your team already runs customer engagement on MoEngage, WebEngage or CleverTap, Gallabox connects to them from Essential, so WhatsApp becomes one more channel in journeys you already manage. If you don't use one, there's no need to buy one for WhatsApp alone; Gallabox's own segments and drip sequences cover most Kuwait teams.

How we set it up

  1. 01

Audit the list and the opt-ins

Who agreed to hear from you on WhatsApp, and where that is recorded. Those records are also what you'll want in hand when checking your setup against Kuwait's CITRA Data Privacy Protection Regulation.

  2. 02

    Write the template library

One set per campaign type, in Arabic and English, each in the right category and submitted ahead of the season.

  3. 03

Set the calendar and the budget

The year's peaks, the segments for each, and a monthly budget worked out from contacts, category rates and the plan.

  4. 04

    Connect ads and attribution

Click-to-WhatsApp campaigns pointed at your number, source tags on arrival, and Conversions API events for the outcomes that matter.

  5. 05

    Report monthly and prune

Template and sequence analytics, failed sends, and cost per outcome. Weak templates are retired and the calendar is adjusted.

Kuwait & the GCC

What’s different here

Ramadan, Eid, February and White Friday

Kuwait's peaks are known a year ahead. Templates for each should be approved before the season, and sends timed for the evenings people actually read.

Two templates, not one bilingual message

Tag each contact's language and send the matching template. It reads better, and each version can be improved on its own.

October 2026 raises marketing costs

Kuwait's marketing rate moves from $0.0341 to $0.0792 on 1 October 2026. Budgets for Q4 campaigns, White Friday included, should use the new rate.

Opt-in you can show

Record where and when each contact agreed to receive WhatsApp messages. It's the first thing to check against Kuwait's CITRA Data Privacy Protection Regulation, and it keeps block rates down.

Which plan?

From Essential

Marketing teams usually need Essential: drip sequences, template and sequence analytics, Conversions API attribution, 500K broadcast contacts a month, and the MoEngage, WebEngage and CleverTap connections. Basic covers broadcasts to 10K contacts a month with basic ad labelling.

Connects with

  • Meta Conversions API
  • Facebook Lead Ads
  • MoEngage
  • WebEngage
  • CleverTap
  • Shopify

Integrations Gallabox documents. Kuwaiti gateways such as KNET have no built-in integration; we connect them with payment links or a custom build.

A question about your own business?

Send it on WhatsApp. We reply with a straight answer: whether you need the API at all, which plan, and which flow is worth building first.

Frequently asked questions

Who should run WhatsApp in a marketing team?
Usually the people who already run email or paid social. What they need is a calendar, templates approved ahead of time, and one named person accountable for the contact list and who can send to it.
Does Gallabox have Ramadan campaign features?
No, and it doesn't need them. Ramadan on WhatsApp is planning: templates approved before the month, segments ready, and sends scheduled for the evening hours your customers reply.
Why did some campaign messages fail with error 131049?
Those people had reached WhatsApp's limit on marketing messages from businesses. Wait at least 24 hours before trying them again, and send less often to that segment.
Can we see which ad produced a sale on WhatsApp?
Yes, from Essential. Chats are tagged by the ad they came from, and Conversions API events send the outcome back to Meta. On Basic you get the ad label on the chat, without the conversion events.
What will a campaign cost after October 2026?
Each delivered marketing template to a Kuwait number costs $0.0792 from 1 October 2026, plus the provider's markup, plus your monthly plan. Replies inside an open chat are service messages, free up to 1,000 a month per number.
