where the ad and the chat meet

Click-to-WhatsApp ads that turn into real conversations

Click-to-WhatsApp ads run on Facebook and Instagram and open a chat with your business instead of a website. When someone messages from the ad in the WhatsApp app and you reply within 24 hours, every message for the next 72 hours is free. On Gallabox, Basic labels these chats; Essential adds the Conversions API, ad attribution and analytics.

What a Click-to-WhatsApp ad does

A Click-to-WhatsApp ad is an ordinary Facebook or Instagram ad whose button opens WhatsApp instead of a website. The customer taps, WhatsApp opens with a pre-filled message, and they send it. You are now in a chat with someone who raised their hand a few seconds ago.

For many Kuwait businesses that is a better landing page than a website. People already spend their day in WhatsApp, they can ask the question that is stopping them from buying, and they can send a voice note if typing is a chore. For a salon, a clinic, a car showroom or a furniture store, a conversation is often the natural next step anyway.

The catch is that a chat needs an answer. An ad that sends a wave of people to WhatsApp on a Thursday evening, while one person is covering the phone, burns money. The setup behind the ad matters as much as the ad itself.

The 72-hour free window, worth more from October

Meta gives conversations from these ads a free entry point. When someone messages you from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad or a Facebook Page call-to-action button, in the WhatsApp app on Android or iOS, and you reply within 24 hours, every message in the 72 hours after your reply is free. Templates are included. Chats started on desktop or the web don't qualify.

On 1 October 2026 Kuwait becomes its own pricing market and the rates rise: a marketing template goes from $0.0341 to $0.0792, and a utility template from $0.0091 to $0.044, before the provider's markup. Service replies start being charged after 1,000 free a month per number. The 72-hour rule doesn't change, so every conversation you can finish inside it is worth more than it was.

That shapes how we build: reply instantly so the window opens, do the qualifying, the booking and the first follow-up inside those three days, and plan any later message knowing it will be charged.

A bilingual greeting that qualifies

The ad sets the language. If the creative is in Arabic, the pre-filled message should be in Arabic and so should the first reply; the same goes for English. A bot that answers an Arabic ad in English loses people in the first second.

After the greeting, the bot asks the few questions that separate a buyer from a browser — area, budget, the service they want, and when — using buttons and lists rather than free text. Leads that qualify go straight to a salesperson in the team inbox with their answers attached; the rest get useful information and an easy way to come back.

Keep the bot inside Meta's rules. AI that helps your business answer its own customers is allowed; a general-purpose assistant is not. And don't promise in the ad what the chat can't deliver: an ad that says 'price on WhatsApp' should lead to a price.

Report real results back to Meta

Left alone, Meta optimises a messaging campaign for people likely to start a chat. That is not the same as people likely to buy. In a market the size of Kuwait, a campaign can drift toward cheap chats that go nowhere.

The fix is to tell Meta what happened next. On Gallabox's Essential plan and above, the Conversions API sends events such as a qualified lead or a purchase back to Meta, tied to the ad that started the chat, and ad attribution and analytics show which campaign and creative produced them. The campaign can then learn from buyers instead of taps. It takes time and volume, and it doesn't guarantee a result, but it gives the algorithm the right target.

The Basic plan labels chats that came from Click-to-WhatsApp ads, which is enough to count them. If you spend on ads every month, Essential's attribution is usually the point where the ad budget starts to make sense.

Where the ad team and the WhatsApp setup meet

Many agencies run the ad and leave the chat to you; many WhatsApp providers set up the inbox and leave the ad to someone else. The gap between the two is where leads go cold: an ad quoting a price the bot doesn't know, a campaign launched on a weekend with nobody on shift, conversion events that were never connected.

Aahfil runs both. The same team writes the ad, the pre-filled message and the bot's first reply, in the same two languages, sets business hours around your staffing, connects the Conversions API, and reads the results together: cost per chat, cost per qualified lead and, where the sale can be tracked, cost per sale.

Start small. One offer, one audience, one flow and a week or two of data, then put more budget behind what produces buyers.

How we set it up

  1. 01

Connect the number to the ads

Your WhatsApp API number is linked to your Facebook Page and chosen as the message destination in Ads Manager.

  2. 02

Write the ad and the reply together

Creative, pre-filled message and greeting, in matching Arabic and English.

  3. 03

    Build the greeting bot

An instant reply, a language choice, a few qualifying questions and a handover to the right team.

  4. 04

    Connect conversion events

On Essential, the Conversions API reports qualified leads and sales back to Meta.

  5. 05

    Launch small, then scale

One campaign first. We watch cost per qualified lead, then add budget to what works.

Kuwait & the GCC

What’s different here

Worth more after 1 October 2026

Kuwait's own rates start that day, with marketing templates at $0.0792 before markup, while the 72-hour free window stays as it is. Conversations run inside it save more than before.

Match the ad's language

An Arabic ad gets an Arabic pre-filled message and an Arabic first reply. Mixing them loses people at the first message.

Staff the hours you advertise

Campaigns that run through Thursday nights and the Friday–Saturday weekend need people on shift, or honest business-hours replies (Essential).

Phones, not desktops

The free window only applies to chats started in the Android or iOS app. Keep that in mind when you read costs for desktop placements.

Which plan?

From Basic

Basic labels chats that come from Click-to-WhatsApp ads. The Conversions API, ad attribution and ad analytics start on Essential.

  • Meta Conversions API
  • Facebook Lead Ads

  • Zoho CRM

Integrations Gallabox documents. Kuwaiti gateways such as KNET have no built-in integration; we connect them with payment links or a custom build.

Frequently asked questions

Are messages from Click-to-WhatsApp ads free?
For 72 hours, if the customer messaged from the ad in the WhatsApp app on Android or iOS and you replied within 24 hours. Every message in that window is free, templates included, and the rule doesn't change on 1 October 2026.
Do I need the WhatsApp API to run these ads?
No, the ads also work with the free Business app. The API is what lets a bot reply instantly, route chats to a team and report conversions back to Meta.
Can I see which ad brought a sale?
On Essential and above, Gallabox's ad attribution and analytics tie chats to the ad that started them, and the Conversions API sends the outcome back to Meta. Basic only labels ad chats.
Will this lower my cost per lead?
It can, but nobody can promise it. Reporting real leads and sales to Meta gives the campaign a better target; the offer, the creative and how fast you reply still decide most of the result.
Do you run the ads as well?
Yes. Aahfil runs Meta ads and the WhatsApp setup together, so the ad, the first reply and the reporting are planned as one.
